Just what is unschooling anyway?

We have been learning about homeschooling over the past few years and we have decided to try it for preschool and see how it goes...Through this I keep hearing the word "Unschooling" which at first seemed a little odd to me, But the more i read, the more it makes sense...perfect sense. You see, when a baby is first born he/she knows how to find the mama's breast, they learn to support their head, to sit up, to crawl, to eat, to walk, etc... children are natural born learners! How natural is it really to be put in a classroom with 25 -30 other children whom you don't know, and a teacher that you don't know as well. Everyone learns more from life itself, not from worksheets and tests and quizzes. Doing a worksheet on the stars, you learn a bit, but going out camping under the stars and learning about them with your family you gain more knowledge and retain in better because it becomes a memory :) Unschooling is the first form of learning...why not continue with it. We've already been doing it for 4 years now anyway! lol

"People need to understand that when they're deciding between breastmilk and formula, they're not deciding between Coke and Pepsi...They're choosing between a live, pure substance and a dead substance made with the cheapest oils available."

November

November is a special month for us, it holds my husbands birthday, my birthday, our anniversary, and Thanksgiving! Besides the birthday parties and our anniversary we have a huge Thanksgiving dinner for all military members and families who have no where to go or can't go home for the holiday. Well this year in particular we have an extra birthday party to attend and a going away party that we are throwing for a friend!!! Can I say "a little too much on my plate!" yikes! I'm a bit stressed, but i think it will all work out in the end! :)

This is us...

So...we are a family of 5 we have a 4 year old Owen, who we call Owe, a 2 year old Liliana, who we call Lily and a 6 month old Wyatt, who we Koala. We try to parent our children the best way we know how, which is close to attachment parenting, but we are not perfect :) we have a passion for green living as well, we make a lot of our own stuff, we garden, we sew, we cook wholesome food, we make our own natural cleaners, etc. We also have started doing preschool for our oldest at home, so that is fun and exciting! well...I hope you enjoy!
